Media Release: ProVelo Super League confirms Sunshine State to host the 2025 Season Finale

The ProVelo Super League is excited to announce an all-new elite road cycling event, the Q Tour, which will close out the inaugural season of the PSL in the Sunshine State from March 21 to 23.

The ‘Road to the World Tour’ decider will be a fitting finale as riders and teams compete to be the crowned inaugural league champions across Brisbane and the City of Moreton Bay. 

Featuring an electric street criterium in the heart of the city and 2 days of racing across the picturesque City of Moreton Bay Region, the Q Tour will showcase 4 stages of elite level cycling coupled with premium hospitality experiences and trackside spectator entertainment experiences that are sure to captivate fans.

Get ready for an exhilarating weekend filled with non-stop action as Q Tour kicks off on Friday night, March 21, with a fast-paced street criterium hosted at Brisbane’s iconic South Bank. Replicating the same circuit that hosted the Australian Criterium Championships in 2006 that featured Aussie international sensations such as Matt White, Robbie McEwen, Baden Cooke and Matt Hayman, PSL teams and riders will tackle the challenging course under lights on the edge of the Brisbane River. The South Bank Street Criterium will officially launch the 2025 Brisbane Cycling Festival. 

South Bank Corporation CEO, Bill Delves welcomed the event to the heart of the city.

“South Bank is one of Brisbane’s largest and most active public spaces, so kicking off the Brisbane Cycling Festival with the Street Criterium hosted here makes perfect sense. We look forward to welcoming the PSL teams, riders and spectators to South Bank to experience the exciting event in such a lively place.”

On Saturday morning the 22nd, the PSL moves to the City of Moreton Bay as Lakeside Park, hosts a road race on the Lakeside motorsport circuit before tracking southeast to Redcliffe for a twilight afternoon time trial.

A Moreton Bay Hinterland Queen Stage, on Sunday, March 23, will crown the inaugural champions of the 'Q Tour’, the Under 23 champions that will secure World Tour opportunities with the Jacyo AlUla and Liv AlUla WorldTour teams and the inaugural Champions of the ProVelo Super League season.  

This challenging yet picturesque course presents a true test of endurance, ensuring that the final leg of the ProVelo Super League 2025 season will bring out the best in every athlete and provide a fitting finale for riders, cycling fans and event spectators. 

Mayor Peter Flannery said it was exciting City of Moreton Bay was set to be the first host destination partner in Queensland for this new and exhilarating event.

“City of Moreton Bay is establishing itself as an attractive and supportive destination for high calibre international sporting events like the ProVelo Super League,” Mayor Flannery said.

“This event is expected to attract more than 300 elite athletes from Australia and overseas and inject an estimated $750,000 impact into our local economy.

“With some of the most scenic roads to ride in Queensland, we look forward to welcoming athletes from around the world to Moreton Bay for the league’s final event and showcasing our incredible city to international viewers.”

PSL Co-Founder, Matt Wilson praised the South Bank Corporation and City of Moreton Bay for buying into the vision of the PSL and their commitment to bringing the PSL to Queensland, he said “it was a strategic imperative for to us to bring the league to Queensland recognising what an important decade we are in as we look forward to Brisbane 2032.  For the sport of road cycling, the PSL is an important stepping stone for our emerging riders who dream of representing the green and gold at a home game in under 8 years’ time. We would love to think that a rider or riders who progress through the PSL could realise that dream.”  

Wilson added “The Q Tour is going to represent an epic conclusion to the PSL season.   Street racing through the stunning South Bank precinct, culminating in a pretty gruelling concluding road race on the Sunday, is really going to set the bar for the future of the PSL.  We are really looking forward to it.”
