Blake Agnoletto’s journey from BMX tracks in Bendigo to the elite European peloton is a powerful example of how structured development and opportunity are shaping the future of Australian cycling. His rise underscores the growing impact of the ProVelo Super League in creating a visible and viable pathway to the WorldTour—providing young riders with the platform, structure, and exposure needed to succeed on the world stage.

Blake Agnoletto’s rise through the Australian cycling ranks is an example of how homegrown talent is being nurtured through structured development and opportunity. From BMX beginnings in Bendigo to the elite European peloton, his journey highlights the impact ProVelo Super League (PSL) is having on the Australian cycling pathway to the WorldTour.

Blake’s cycling journey began at just eight years old with the Bendigo BMX Club. By age 10, he was racing mountain bikes and soon after, transitioned to road cycling with the Bendigo & District Cycling Club. A 12th birthday gift, a road bike, sparked a deeper passion for racing, and by 2019, he was chasing a professional career with Van Dam Racing.

After a disrupted 2020 season with InForm TM Insight MAKE due to COVID-19, Blake refocused with the help of the Victorian Institute of Sport and his dedicated coaches. His 2022 season marked a turning point, capturing national and Oceania titles, a general classification win on the road, and his first taste of European racing.

In 2023, riding for UCI Continental team ARA | Skip Capital, Blake secured silver at the National Criterium Championships, medalled at Nations Cups, and scored multiple top 10s in Europe. He capped off the season by claiming a National Madison title alongside Kell O’Brien.

Blake’s upward trajectory continued into 2024, where he won the U23 men’s criterium at the Australian Road National Championships, improving on his 2023 silver medal. He also earned podiums at Nations Cup events, raced at the Track World Championships, and finished in the top 10 of the UCI Track Champions League.

But it was the PSL that proved to be the catalyst for his breakout season.

"The PSL has created a much more defined and visible pathway for Australian riders aiming for the WorldTour," Blake says.

"The incentive of a stagiaire spot is a huge motivator, but beyond that, the visibility the league brings is just as important."

Competing for Team Brennan p/b TP32, Blake delivered a career-defining ride at the 2025 Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic, winning the iconic 266km race with a gutsy and intelligent performance.

"My biggest result to date would be winning the Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic, It’s such an iconic Australian race and a true test of endurance and tactics."

He followed that up with a Nations Cup gold in the Team Pursuit and multiple UCI podiums across Europe. Among those standout results was a second-place finish at Omloop van het Waasland in Belgium.

"Placing second at Omloop van het Waasland in Belgium gave me a massive confidence boost, racing against such strong international fields."

Blake attributes much of his consistency and progression to the Team Brennan environment and high performance racing structure.

"Racing with Team Brennan gave me purpose and structure after nationals and before the European season," he explains.

"The PSL gave me the platform to get results, build confidence, and transition smoothly back into the European peloton."

In 2025, the PSL platform led to the biggest leap yet: a contract with the Groupama-FDJ Continental Development Team.

"The league is quickly becoming a critical part of the pathway for Aussie cyclists aiming for the top."

“Having WorldTour directors watching, scouts following results, and national coverage on SBS means riders are always being seen – even if they don’t win overall”

Now competing on European roads as a first-year elite, Blake is gaining the experience and exposure needed to take the next step towards the WorldTour. His journey– powered by talent, grit, and a clear development pathway.

And he's not alone. As more riders follow in his footsteps, PSL is proving to be not just a racing league, but a launchpad for Australia's next generation of world-class cyclists.
