Q Tour | Stage 3 SBS Women's Race Recap
In hot and humid conditions, the riders set off for the 66km race around the Lakeside Raceway in the panoramic City of Moreton Bay.
With three intermediate sprints throughout the 30 laps of the 2.2km circuit, it quickly became clear that the big teams of Praties Cycling Team, Butterfields Ziptrak Racing and Meridian Blue p/b 99 Bikes were looking to keep the group together to pick up the bonus seconds on offer.
Sophie Marr (Praties Cycling Team) was particularly active, taking out the first two intermediates. Coming into the finish with the group all together, it was Meridian Blue leading out for Lauren Bates. They looked to have things under control until League leader Sophie Marr stepped off the wheel and came around Bates to take a close win, with Sophie Edwards (Butterfields Ziptrak Racing) in third.
