Q&A

Who or what inspired you to take up cycling?

I got into riding in Primary school as our school had a Human Powered Vehicle team that raced Maryborough Energy Breakthrough, which I enjoyed. I loved the school training on our bikes and after the disappointment in the first year of being too short to fit in the trike, I was determined to not let that stop me the following year! After that, I decided I want to continue riding. My dad had connections with the Bendigo Cycling Club, which led me to start racing as an U13.

What was your first race and where did you finish?

My first race was a Thursday night Bendigo Club Track Race before I started on the road when road season began. The club lent me a track bike and after a few beginner coaching sessions with Noel Sens and ‘Bomber’ Burns, they let us race. I don’t remember much about the night, except that I was excited and nervous to be finally racing!

Studying, working or full time cyclist (what are you studying or have studied and/or what is your job)?

In 2025 I will begin studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with La Trobe University, after taking a gap year in 2024 to race and train in Europe, firstly with the U19 Australian Development Team to compete in two Nations Cup races and secondly to Italy with the Downunder Academy. I plan to head back to Belgium in the middle of the year to complete another short block of racing and training.

Cycling dream?

My ultimate cycling dream would be to race the Tour de France Femmes.

What’s your favourite training session (i.e. intervals in the garage, local bike shop loop, endurance day, etc) and why?

My favourite Training Session would be a long endurance ride. I love planning the ride as much as I love riding it. My happy place is spending hours in the saddle, exploring the countryside and riding up some amazing climbs. My local go-to are the roads up and around Mt Alexander or Lake Mountain.
