With recent seasons decided by the finest of margins, the 2026 ProVelo Super League overall title will come down to consistency and precision. Riders will need versatility across all terrain, strong team support, and smart use of points opportunities, with key races like the Lake Inverell Criterium playing a crucial role in shaping the final standings.

With the 2025 season decided by 13 and  21 points in the women’s and men’s league respectively, it is clear that small moments can decide a rider’s fate in the overall standings. The devil is in the detail and riders will need to stay razor sharp all season if they want to take out the prestigious title of the PSL Overall Winner. Here’s what you need to do if you want to fight for the title:

1. Be Versatile

Sounds simple, not so easy to execute. With an incredible variety of terrain and landscapes covered throughout this season’s PSL, anyone making a bid for the overall title will want to see their name towards the top end of the results sheet across all disciplines and terrain.

2. Have a Strong Team

We all know the value of a strong team, but this league will present many scenarios and problems that are much easier to solve with the help of others. With the standard of racing so high, the help will need to be top notch to make the difference.

3. Contest the Mountains and Points Classifications

Often overlooked as an area to focus on for the top contenders, there is a lot of ground to be made up through these classifications in tours. With 20, 16 and 13 points on offer for first, second and third at the end of a tour, we should see strong competition for intermediate sprints and QOM/KOM points on offer.

4. Don’t Sleep on the Lake Inverell Criterium

If you thought the riders wouldn’t be motivated to race a fast criterium after Australia’s toughest one day classic you would be wrong. With slightly more league points on offer compared to a tour stage, there is a significant opportunity to extend an advantage earned the day before, or close the gap after a less than optimal result. Versatility is the name of the game, it will take a special type of rider to fight for the win in both the mighty Grafton to Inverell and the Lake Inverell criterium.
