PSL Super Teams: Big players go head to head in the women’s league
The women’s league is shaping to be fiercely competitive from the get go in 2026, with multiple stacked rosters facing off throughout the season.
The off-season presented us with an active game of musical chairs and numerous up and coming riders have found themselves with new colours this season. With the notable departures (upwards!) of last year’s PSL standouts Sophie Marr, Talia Appleton and Alli Anderson, the door opens for the next generation to step up.
Looking through team lists there is no shortage of talent. Team Redcat, Meridian Bikebug, Butterfields Ziptrak Racing and NSTRMO X Attaquer X CCACHE have each assembled very strong teams. Defending PSL Champions Team Redcat come in with newly crowned U23 Time Trial national champion Sophia Sammons as their marquee rider, and plenty of firepower around her. They will face intense pressure from all angles, and only time will tell if they can maintain the dominance we have come to expect from them so far.
The SA Kick-It will likely set the tone for the rest of the season, displaying climbing form in the Time Trial, and sprint form in the criterium and road race. Last year we saw the importance of teamwork, and if anything was clear from 2025, winning the ProVelo Super League can’t be done alone. It’s anyone’s guess at this stage who will emerge victorious this season and I can’t wait to see how each ambitious squad tries to swing things in their favour.
