Q tour Stage 3 Moreton Bay Hinterland queen's stage | SBS Women's Recap
Starting under sunny skies, all eyes were on the battle between the League leader Sophia Sammons (Team Redcat) and her main challenger for the SBS Women’s League overall title Sophie Edwards (Butterfields Ziptrak Racing). Edwards had been successful in securing bonus seconds on offer throughout the opening stages and entered as the overall race leader with a 20s gap over Sammons.

As the race settled in the heavens opened up, wreaking havoc on the peloton. The weather added another dimension to the challenging circuit, which was already clipping the ticket of a number of riders who found themselves watching on from the sidelines.
Following a large crash the race was forced to be shortened by a lap, creating urgency within the Redcat camp to launch Sammons and start clawing back the time they needed to secure the Q Tour overall and League victory. Sammons burst out of the remainder of the peloton on the final climb and continued along the ridge to the line with ferocious intensity, establishing enough of a gap to secure the overall win at the Q Tour and the SBS Women’s League at the conclusion of the final round.
