PSL Tour of Tasmania Stage 1 - Recap
The Tour of Tasmania opened with a fast and technical 600-metre uphill prologue in Launceston. Ruby Taylor claimed the SBS Women’s League win, while Cameron Ivory secured his fifth prologue victory in the Let’s Go Motorhomes Men’s League.
Round Two of the Hertz ProVelo Super League got underway in Launceston with a sharp and explosive 600-metre uphill prologue, opening the Tour of Tasmania in the heart of the city.
The steep zigzag climb proved a technical challenge, showing that even the shortest efforts can have a major impact on a tour known for brutal road stages and decisive mountain finishes.
In the SBS Women’s League, New Zealander Georgia Waghorn set the early benchmark through the tight hairpins before Ruby Taylor produced a standout ride, using her mountain bike background to attack the corners and power her way into the lead. Keely Bennett delivered a strong performance to take second place, while GC contender Sophia Sammons see t up well for the stages ahead with a solid opening effort.
The Let’s Go Motorhomes Men’s League saw a familiar winner on this course, with former mountain bike national champion Cameron Ivory setting a blistering pace to claim his fifth Tour of Tasmania prologue victory. Connor Wright pushed hard through the technical bends to secure second, while Graham Frislie rounded out the podium only seconds behind. GC hopeful Oliver Simms also impressed, continuing his strong form following his stage win at SA Kick It in Round One.
