Squadron Energy Inverell Circuit | SBS Women's Highlights
The women started aggressively on the purpose built Lake Inverell circuit, as many riders looked to get up the road and away from the big name sprinters in the main field.
Kirsty Watts (Meridian Bikebug) forged the days breakaway alongside Abby McLain (NSTRMO x Attaquer x CCACHE) and Leani Van Der Berg (Butterfields Ziptrak Racing).
They looked threatning as the advantage extended to almost a minute before Van Der Bergs team-mate Katelyn Nicholson singlehandedly brought the breakaway back to the main peloton to set up a bunch finish.
The field split on the final lap as Belinda Bailey (NSTRMO x Attaquer x CCACHE) launched early, ruling pre-race favourite Odette Lynch (Butterfields Ziptrak Racing) out of contention. Alyssa Polites (Meridian Bikebug) sprinted past Bailey, before Keely Bennett (Butterfields Ziptrak Racing) stepped around to take an impressive win.
