The Hertz ProVelo Super League (PSL) is excited to announce the return of the Tour of Canberra as a new round on the 2027 season calendar, reconnecting elite road cycling with a city, long regarded as one of Australia's great cycling destinations.

The Tour of Canberra will feature as Round 4 of the Hertz PSL, from February 26-28, 2027, replacing the Harbour City GP, which will remain in league consideration for future seasons.

Hosted across three days, the Tour of Canberra will feature Elite Women's and Men's divisions, alongside the PSL17’s for Girls & Boys.

The Tour will be contested across four stages:

Stage 1 – Time Trial, Friday, February 26 (morning)

Stage 2 – Criterium, Friday, February 26 (twilight)

Stage 3 – Circuit Race, Saturday, February 27

Stage 4 – Queen Stage Road Race, Sunday, February 28

The Canberra Cycling Club (CCC), one of Australia's oldest and largest cycling clubs, was established in the mid 1920s and first staged the Canberra Tour in 1983, a tour that grew into one of the most heralded events on the domestic calendar before elite racing shifted away from the capital.

Some of Australia's most credentialed cyclists on the international stage developed their craft on the roads of Canberra including Michael Matthews who recently secured a silver medal in the road race at the 2026 UCI World Championships, Mat Hayman, Jay Vine, Chloe Hosking, Michael Rodgers and Gracie Elvin to name a few.

Canberra-raised cyclist Mat Hayman, one of Australia's most respected road cyclists, has welcomed the return of the Tour of Canberra. Hayman spent close to two decades in the professional peloton and claimed one of the sport's greatest upsets when he won the 2016 Paris Roubaix, just weeks after breaking his arm. Mat also won the road race at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

"Having grown up racing and spending the early part of my career in Canberra, it's exciting to see racing returning there," Hayman said. "We always looked forward to the Canberra Two-Day Tour, and the Commonwealth Bank race used to finish in Canberra also, so it's great to see high level racing back in the ACT."

League Co-Founder, Aaron Flanagan added “Since the launch of the league back in 2025 there has been every growing demand to see the return of the Tour of Canberra to the national calendar from all sectors of the community.  So, we are thrilled to be in a position to bring this well admired tour of the past back to the calendar as a feature round of the Hertz PSL. This round has all the makings of a round that will deliver iconic racing moments and an entertaining spectator product which is what underpins our vision for the league.”

Media Note: An in-person media launch for the Tour of Canberra will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Location and time to be confirmed.
