Harbour City GP | Stage 2 Pheasant Wood Road Race | Lets Go Motorhomes Men's Recap
The men's race was expected to be a race of attrition, with last year's event seeing only 20% of the starting peloton make it to the finish. It was clear this year's edition would be no different, as many riders lost contact in the early laps, forced to watch the remainder from the sideline.
As the temperature picked up, so too did the pace and we were treated to non-stop attacking for the 60 lap battle around the punchy motorsport park circuit.
CCACHE X BODYWRAP were tested throughout the day as Team Brennan_, RCA BikesOnline, Cycling Development Foundation, VIS p/b K.O.M.P attacked relentlessly on the short pinch past the start/finish line each lap.
Nobody was able to get away and we set up the final sprint battle, where Pat Eddy (Team Brennan_) glued himself to the race leader Oscar Gallagher, hoping to get over the top of the young sprinter from Melbourne who so far has proved one of the fastest in the field.
As the CCACHE team swung wide, Eddy saw his opportunity to step forward through the shorter line, getting the jump on Gallagher and storming home to take his first win in the Australian National Champions jersey.
With his time bonus earned, Eddy steps from third into the overall race lead ahead of the final road stage in Kangaloon.
