Harbour City GP | Stage 2 Pheasant Wood Road Race | SBS Women's Recap
Butterfields Ziptrak Racing were clear in their intentions to defend the overall race lead of Stage 1 winner Odette Lynch, who showed that she is a difficult rider to beat if she can be delivered to the finish at the front.
With four intermediate sprints providing ample opportunity for ambitious riders to earn back time through the bonus seconds on offer, we knew that heading into the stage that Butterfields would need to be active if they wanted to hold onto the lead. Meridian Bikebug mounted a significant charge to try and launch their leader Amelie Sanders to glory, but Lynch was too much to overcome and took out the first two intermediate sprints to extend her lead.
Heading into the finale, the big four assembled with Redcat leading in front of Butterfields Ziptrak Racing, Meridian Bikebug and NSTRMO X Attaquer x CCACHE in tow. Anna Dubier was the first to launch, but straight onto the wheel was Butterfields Sophie Edwards who pushed forward to launch Odette Lynch to her second win in two days ahead of Edwards, Amelie Sanders held on for third. Edwards will be a key support for Lynch who will look to defend her lead on tomorrows road stage.
