Round Preview - Harbour City GP

It's the round that flipped the script last season, will the Harbour City GP be smooth sailing this time around?

The Course

3 deceptively challenging stages are on the menu for round 4, starting with the fast Cronulla criterium, the now infamous Pheasant Wood Motorsport Park circuit and brand new course in Kangaloon for the queen’s stage road race.

The twisty 1.4km Pheasant Wood circuit decimated the fields last year and proved one of the most entertaining stages of the season. This will prove a key battleground and set up the showdown in Kangloon to decide the general classification.

Let’s Go Motorhomes Men’s League

Team Brennan_ and CCACHE X BODYWRAP are once again two big teams to watch, however they are increasingly challenged by riders from the smaller budget teams that have been riding with heart. This creates a more open dynamic in the battle for the general classification in each round, as well as in the League standings.

Josh Beikoff (Team RCA BikesOnline) will be a marked rider after his thrilling win in Warrnambool, but he’s shown the field that success can be found from the breakaway. CCACHE X BODYWRAP will be expected to control the fields as the sprint favourites, and will need to stay attentive to manage the plethora of escape artists present. Watch out for Cobra9 X Leigh Surveyors Ben Carman and Monty Manion, as well Cam Fraser and Matthew May (Cycling Development Foundation), Brayden Bloch (Pinnacle Performance X Royal Bikes) and Matthew Lambert (RCA BikesOnline) to animate proceedings.

 SBS  Women’s League

The red hot favourites on paper for round 4 are the Butterfields Ziptrak Racing team containing round 1 SA Kick It winner Odette Lynch, round 3 Warrnambool Women’s Classic winner Sophie Edwards and former U23 Oceania Road Champion Keely Bennett. It’s a stacked roster with plenty of ambition and no doubt they will be a main focus of many in the field.

Team Redcat will be looking after League leader Sophia Sammons, but making her return to the PSL peloton is fast finisher Nicole Duncan. The junior world champion on the track made an impression last year and will be keen to step it up a level once again in her home round.

Others contenders to watch out for include Isla Bradbury and Anna Dubier (NSTRMO x Attaquer x CCACHE) as well as Amelie Sanders and Kirsty Watts (Meridian Bikebug)

PSL 17’s

The PSL17s returns for their second round of the season and will contest both the Cronulla and Pheasant Wood circuits. National Road Race and Time Trial Champion Ava Robbins is the clear favourite in the women’s field after dominating the opening event in Adelaide, challenged by Sienna Goulding (Ipswitch CC) and Ava Gidget Rodgers (X-Speed Australia Cycle Club)

For the Men’s we’ll see Vince Bell (Fraser Coast CC), Vince Bell (Balmoral CC) and Jet Stokes (Randwick CC) enter as marked riders, but watch out for those on their home turf including Harvey Challinor (Neo CC) and Maddox Mascari (Camden CC)
