Media Release: The ProVelo Super League Starts A New Era With Bumper Entries For It's Inaugural Event.
The history-making first ProVelo Super League event, SA Kick It, hosted from January 18-20 will commence with bumper entries registered on the provisional start lists in both the Men’s and Women’s League.
The PSL Women’s League will see approximately 80 female riders hit the start line at the foot of the Willunga Hill for the SA Kick It Stage 1 iconic time trial held as a precursor to the Health Partners Stage 2 of the Santos Women's Tour Down Under.
The PSL Men’s League SA Kick It event will feature around 130 riders, promising a highly competitive start to the league season.
The impressive field sizes make for some of the largest domestic road cycling fields seen in recent history.
Both the Men’s and Women’s divisions will see several new teams on the start line including international teams Criterion Racing, a NZ registered team, and the Hong Kong Cycling Men’s and Women’s team for this historic first event.
PSL Co-Founder, Matt Wilson praised the road cycling community for backing the vision and new format presented by the ProVelo Super League saying that the entries for the inaugural event is a really exciting starting point for the PSL “We aimed to package an elite road cycling product to support the Australian road cycling pathway and we appreciate the cycling community’s belief in the model. The league has invested significantly in creating a platform for growth, and we are thrilled with the support in entries for the first ever event, the SA Kick It. The launching of several new teams is also an incredibly positive step forward and shows there is a lot of sponsor interest in what has been put together. It’s a fantastic starting position and we will continue to collaborate with our community to develop further into the future”
The SA Kick It debuts as a three-stage event as part of the Santos Tour Down Under festival program.
On Saturday, January 18, PSL team and riders will launch the 2025 season racing the clock in a time trial on the iconic Willunga Hill climb in the picturesque McLaren Vale.
On Sunday, January 19, the PSL action moves to the city of Adelaide with the league's first criterium of the season to be hosted on the purpose built criterium circuit at Victoria Park on the fringe of Adelaide’s city centre. The Stage 2 criteriums will be broadcast nationally as the league's first live national broadcast of the 2025 season on SBS.
An action-packed three days of racing will conclude with a road race at The Bend Motorsport Complex on Monday, January 20 at Tailem Bend.
PSL will also be exhibiting in the City of Adelaide Tour Village providing cycling fans the opportunity to get to talk directly with our team and learn more about the league and the drive to support aspiring Aussie cyclists.
