SBS Women's League Overall Standings

With just a single point separating Praties Racing’s Talia Appleton and Butterfields Ziptrak Racing’s Katelyn Nicholson after the Women’s Warrnambool Classic, the battle for the inaugural PSL title is heating up—can Nicholson snatch the lead, will Praties’ depth prove an advantage, and is Sophie Marr versatile enough to shake up the standings?

Can Nicholson challenge Appleton for the inaugural PSL title? Have Praties got too many options? Is Sophie Marr versatile enough?
The SBS Women’s League has seen Praties Racing team leader Talia Appleton’s lead slashed to only a single point ahead of Butterfields Ziptrak Racing’s Katelyn Nicholson after the Women’s Warrnambool Classic.
Nicholson took an emphatic solo win on the iconic finish along Raglan Parade, collecting 100 points and closing over 50 points to League leader Appleton in the process.
Nicholson has made it clear she is looking to take out the overall League victory, but she will have some strong competition standing between her and the title. Talia Appleton has demonstrated remarkable versatility with her victory in Round 1 and strong showing in Round 2, and will no doubt be the League favourite for many. Both riders are well suited to the next two rounds of the PSL and will go head-to-head to pull on the next League leaders jersey.
In the race for the Liv AlUla Jayco Continental contract, Appleton has a commanding lead of 75 and 76 points over her Praties team-mates Sophie Marr and Sophia Sammons respectively. Alli Anderson (Butterfields Ziptrak Racing) has started making up ground and sits in fourth place currently with a round ahead that should suit her very well; the Tour of Tasmania.
Appleton looks to be the clear favourite, she has shown the versatility required to score points that matter at each round. Marr and Sammons are the closest behind and while they both bring a more specialised skill set, this can help them score big points on the parcours that suit their strengths. Anderson also can’t be ruled out and will be motivated to close the gap. With four rounds still to be raced, there is plenty of time to see changes in the standings.
