Three stages remain in the Hertz ProVelo Super League, but it’s the difficult Moreton Bay hinterland circuit that could decide the season.

The Course

The final round of the Hertz ProVelo Super League is almost here, with the Q Tour set to bring the season to a close.

Stages 1 and 2 are, on paper, relatively straightforward and likely to favour the sprinters, with both stages carrying a strong chance of finishing in a bunch gallop.

Stage 3, however, is where the race is expected to come alive. One word comes to mind when looking at the course profile: savage.

The hilly 16.5 km circuit through the Moreton Bay hinterland will test even the strongest riders in both the men’s and women’s fields. With repeated climbs and little opportunity for recovery, the course offers plenty of chances to split the race apart and put riders under real pressure.

Let’s Go Motorhomes Men’s League

With so much climbing talent in the Let’s Go Motorhomes Men’s League, the battle for the final general classification of the season promises to be fiercely contested.

Last weekend’s winner of the Squadron Energy Grafton to Inverell, Finn Walsh (CCACHE x BODYWRAP), will arrive with confidence after his impressive performance. But he’ll face stiff competition from League leader Oliver Bleddyn (Team Brennan_) and teammate Levi Hone.

Also lining up are several riders capable of shaping the race, including Oliver Sims (Cobra9 x Leigh Surveyors), Matson McAdam (McCarthy Homes QCF), Aidan and Ronan Teese (Pinnacle Performance x Royal Bikes), and Julian Baudry (VIS p/b K.O.M.P).

It’s a stacked field, with a number of riders racing on home roads and eager to make their mark. Motivation will be high as those still chasing a breakthrough result look for one final opportunity to deliver, while the riders at the top of the standings aim to hold their form and secure the overall titles.

SBS Women’s League

League leader Sophia Sammons (Team Redcat) will no doubt welcome the return to climbing terrain for the final round in Queensland.

The Western Australian has established herself as one of the strongest climbers in the SBS Women’s League this season and will relish the chance to test herself once more on the demanding roads of the Moreton Bay hinterland.

Since the last major climbing tests earlier in the season, the racing has grown increasingly aggressive on rolling terrain, suggesting the final round could deliver another hard-fought contest.

There are several riders capable of making an impact. Can U19 leader Neve Parslow (ARA Skip Capital) step up to challenge for a stage win? Will Isla Bradbury (NSTRMO x Attaquer x CCACHE) finally secure the victory she has come so close to throughout the season?

The list of contenders is long, and the final round looks set for another aggressive weekend of racing in the SBS Women’s League.

PSL 17’s

The PSL 17’s return for their final round of the season, racing at both Lakeside Raceway and the Brisbane International Cycle Park.

National Road Race and Time Trial Champion Ava Robbins enters the weekend as League leader and will be looking to secure the overall title on home roads. She will face pressure from Sienna Goulding (Ipswich CC) and Ava Gidget Rogers (X-Speed Australia Cycle Club), who have both been close to the mark throughout the season and will be eager to finish with a strong result.

In the men’s competition, League leader Bryn McDonnell (Fraser Coast CC) will battle Vince Bell (Balmoral CC) for the overall title, with the pair separated by just 50 points heading into the final round.

Both riders will also face a strong Hamilton Wheelers CC squad racing on home terrain and determined to make their presence felt
