Australian MTB Talent recognised in AusCycling 2026-27 Emerging and Developing Athlete Categorisations

Australia’s up and coming mountain bike cross-country (XCO) riders have been recognised in the latest 2026–27 AusCycling Emerging and Developing athlete categorisations, highlighting the depth of talent continuing to rise through the national pathway system.

Six of these athletes have also demonstrated their versatility by competing in the ProVelo Super League across the 2025 or 2026 seasons, continuing the growing crossover between endurance road and off-road development pathways.

Developing XCO Cyclists (2026-27)

Emerging XCO Cyclists (2026-27)

  • Freya Buckmaster - TAS

  • Oliver Grande - ACT
  • Annie Kleywegt - TAS
  • Ruby Taylor - VIC
  • Connor Wright – WA

The categorisations form part of AusCycling’s broader high performance framework designed to identify and support athletes with long-term medal potential leading toward future World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic competition.
