The first of the two Aussie monuments has opened up the fight for overall Hertz ProVelo Super League title. We’re halfway through the calendar and as we hit the business end here is where we stand.

SBS Women’s League

Sophia Sammons (Team Redcat) held onto the overall leaders jersey after round 3, but the gap has shrunk slightly after her 7th place in Warrnambool. It’s clear that Sammons is the top climber in the league, but pure climbing stages are few and far between. Versatility is the name of the game to score consistent points and the young West Australian will need to continue lifting her level to hold off the ambitious chasing group right behind her.

Stand out performer of the Lochard Energy Warrnambool Women’s Classic Sophie Edwards (Butterfields Ziptrak Racing) is one to keep an eye on for the remaining rounds. Taking out her second Warrny is nothing short of remarkable and with the strength she put on display alongside the sharp finishing speed we know she has, there are opportunities aplenty for the track superstar to rack up a big points tally.

Alongside Edwards, how will the Butterfields team use their numbers to try and apply pressure to Redcat? With Odette Lynch, Keely Bennett and Katelyn Nicholson in the roster, it’s a formidable lineup.

We’ve seen how the Harbour City GP can turn the league on its head before and with a demanding queen’s stage in Kangaloon, it’s set to be another big test for those in the mix.

Let’s Go Motorhomes Men’s League

Following a similar storyline, the men’s league leaders jersey didn’t change hands this round and Levi Hone (Team Brennan_) will don the PSL green in Sydney. The young climber from Echuca has shown an impressive ability to pick up points in races that on paper don’t suit his characteristics. He’ll need to channel this ability in round 4 to keep his challengers at bay.

His main rival at this stage appears to be his team mate, Olympic gold medallist Oliver Bleddyn. Bleddyn is clearly keen to make a statement and show his strength to the world, how will the two top dogs at Brennan manage that dynamic out on the road?

Don’t forget about CCACHE X BODYWRAP here either, the Harbour City GP is their home race and they absolutely dominated 12 months ago winning all three stages and the overall. Kurt Eather and Graeme Frislie are around the mark and will be hoping to step into the limelight this weekend as they make their bid for the overall title.

It’s shaping up to be yet another incredibly aggressive round that will require a healthy dose of intensity for anyone who wants to separate themselves from the rest.
